Shirley Victoria Mudd Barnes Breaux

Once upon a time, on May 24, 1936 in Horsforth,
Yorkshire England a little girl, Shirley Mudd was born, the daughter of Percy
Mudd and Edna Tillotson Mudd. She
grew up in a very humble, and loving family during the War days in
Yorkshire. She is survived by a
Brother, John Mudd, and three Sisters; Sylvia Mudd Wall, Hilary Mudd Campbell,
and Patricia Mudd Winterbottom all of whom reside back in her birth town of
Yorkshire. After successfully
completing school, she worked for Jack Carr, the local Chemist, mixing
prescriptions and helping out in the Pharmacy.

She met and fell in love with Michael Barnes,
son of Lawrence and Lilian Green Barnes, and they were married on September 5,
1959 at St. Margarets Church in Horsforth. They were a loving couple, had lots of friends, family and
settled down to start their own family.
They were the happy parents of six children, and eleven grandchildren;
Debra Karen Barnes, Della Kaye Barnes LaCour, married to Joe LaCour and they
have two children; Trent and Stephanie LaCour, Andrew Michael Barnes, married
to Gretchen Kaler Barnes, they have three children; Jonathan, Emilie and Jacob
Barnes, Dianne Kim Barnes Simonson, married to Lars Simonson, and they have
three children; Grant, Gabrielle and Gage Simonson, son Stephen Philip Barnes
who was already waiting for Shirley to meet him in heaven and lastly, their
son, Scott Richard Barnes married to Kimberly Conerly Barnes, and they have
three children; Meredith, Jack and Sanders Barnes.

The entrepreneur husband and father, that
Michael was, accepted an opportunity to move his family to America, where he
lived the American Dream. Shirley was delighted with her children, was a
devoted stay at home Mum, was always there for her children and family. Through
the years she helped raise and nurture her grandchildren, and also friends and
neighbors children, as that was her calling, to love, and nurture and make
people happy. She was known to them as Grandy.

They eventually retired in Waveland, Mississippi. Her life was full of adventure, happy
times. She loved each day, and she
lived each day to its fullest. She
enjoyed knitting, so many baby outfits and blankets for just about anyone. She enjoyed baking, tarts, scones,
cakes and all the yummy things a Mum and Grandy do. She enjoyed her Church, and all the connections she made
through the Church. She enjoyed
the Soup Kitchen days and giving back to those in need. She was known for spreading her love,
and making people happy.

There were huge challenges that she faced, the
loss of her Son, Stephen at a very young age. Later the loss of her husband, Michael. Then enduring the
loss of her home in Waveland from hurricane Katrina. From all this loss, came the good where she later went on to
meet and marry Dr. Earl Breaux at Waveland United Methodist Church on August
13, 2006. Together they rebuilt
their lives settling down in Diamondhead, Mississippi, where they shared five
happy years together.

She continued with her life, never looking back
at the bad, or the hardships she had to overcome, she always looked forward, to
the new day, a fresh day, the excitement that each day brought, and faced it
with lots of love, happiness, and zest.

She became acquainted with Al Asher of
Waveland, through the bereavement of both their spouses. They made more great memories together;
fishing trips, rides along the beach, shopping trips, Church, and visiting with
their families. She was just
infectious for life, forever enjoying the beauty and good of it.

On September 29, 2015 Shirley’s heart stopped at
home and she went to heaven to be with her family; Dad, Mother, Husbands, Son,
and all her friends. We know she
is throwing a party there, the music is playing, the drums are beating and she
is starting another chapter of her life, waiting and preparing for all of us to
join the party. So brush up on
your scrabble.

Her family will be holding a Celebration of
Shirley’s Life
